Learn practical solar installation skills by observing and assisting experienced installers.

We have two trainee solar engineer vacancies. You’ll support installation activities under strict supervision, learn safe working practices and record your practical experience for your college portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Shadowing and learning: Observing and assisting senior installers laying out roof brackets, framing structures and ballast systems.

• Material logistics: Safely handling, transporting and organising solar modules, micro-inverters and mounting hardware.

• Site workspace care: Keeping the work zone clean, tidy and free of tool hazards.

• Cable containment: Assisting in running, clipping and securing DC cables from roof arrays to internal inverter locations.

• Basic tool mastery: Learning safe isolation, wire stripping and connector crimping under the supervision of a qualified electrician.

• System monitoring: Assisting with connecting system hubs to local Wi-Fi so customers can monitor generation data.

• Safety protocols: Following strict working-at-height guidance, including harnesses, scaffolding and edge protection.

• Logbook maintenance: Keeping an accurate weekly diary of practical tasks for your college portfolio.
