AI & Automation Apprentice
Location: Bristol (Hybrid – mainly onsite, with some flexibility)
Salary: £19,000 PA
Apprenticeship: AI & Automation / Digital Systems (Level 3/4 equivalent)
This isn’t one of those apprenticeships where you’re sat quietly “learning” while everyone else does the interesting stuff.
You’ll be right in the middle of it, helping us build smarter systems, automate the boring bits, and bring AI into recruitment in a way that actually makes sense.
We sit at the crossroads of recruitment, tech, and making things work better.
You’ll be working with tools like Bullhorn, automation platforms, and AI systems - figuring out how to save time, reduce chaos, and make people’s jobs easier.
No fluff. No “synergy.” Just real work, real impact, and a steep learning curve (the good kind).
What You’ll Be Doing
Automation & Systems
Help build and improve automated workflows (Bullhorn, Zapier, Power Automate, etc.)
Test things, break things (accidentally), then fix them properly
Spot inefficiencies and suggest smarter ways of doing things
Keep systems running smoothly and flag issues early
AI (The Useful Kind)
Support how we use AI in recruitment (matching, screening, productivity)
Help improve prompts and outputs so they’re actually… good
Learn what “responsible AI” looks like in real life (not just buzzwords)
Sense-check ideas before we automate something we shouldn’t
Process & Improvements
Look at how teams currently work and ask: why is it like this?
Help roll out better ways of working across the business
Work with recruiters and team leads to understand their day-to-day
Turn messy processes into something cleaner, faster, and more useful
Data & Performance
Track how systems and workflows are performing
Help spot patterns, issues, and opportunities to improve
Support reporting and insights (no scary spreadsheets, promise… okay maybe a few)
Training & People Stuff
Help people actually use the systems we build
Deliver simple training sessions (1:1 and small groups)
Create guides, FAQs, and “how-to” docs that people will actually read
Be confident chatting to people across the business — not hiding behind a screen
Ideal Candidate
Curious about AI, tech, and how things work
Not afraid to ask questions (even the “obvious” ones)
Good at problem-solving and spotting patterns
Confident talking to people — you won’t be working in a corner
Able to explain things simply without sounding like a robot
Organised and can manage your time without being chased
Comfortable picking up new tools and systems quickly
Positive, proactive, and up for a challenge
Bonus points if you secretly enjoy fixing inefficient processes or saying “there has to be a better way to do this”
What You’ll Learn
How AI and automation actually work in a business (not just theory)
How to design workflows that save time and reduce manual work
The right way to use AI — ethically, responsibly, and effectively
How to analyse processes and improve them properly
How to work with stakeholders and bring people on the journey
How to turn technical ideas into something anyone can understand
The Kind of Person This Is Perfect For
You like figuring things out
You’re a bit techy (or want to be)
You don’t just accept “that’s how it’s always been done”
You’re happy talking to people, not just working solo
You want a role where you actually make a difference
Perks
20 days holiday + bank holidays
Christmas shutdown
Extra day off for your birthday (because obviously)
Real responsibility from day one
Proper development, not just ticking apprenticeship boxes
